We have been clear that recruitment is a difficult job sometimes, full of incredible highs and sometimes followed by lows. The difference between those that succeed and those that don’t is often just down to attitude. Here we share 3 fundamentals of ensuring that attitude is a positive one.
Believe that Positivity is a Choice.
You often hear people making statements such as “he is such a negative person” or “I am a positive thinker”, these seem to imply that there is little choice or control involved. Yet people aren’t born either positive or negative.
There are many things that happen in life that are outside of our control, our attitude to those things is something we can control. Whether we see something as positive or negative is simply down to choice. And once you truly understand and believe that, then you are well on the way to developing a positive attitude.
Watch the Company you Keep.
Maintaining a positive attitude can sometimes be difficult. Even those that have mastered positivity can falter during difficult times. The company you keep can make a huge difference to the way that you choose to respond in those situations.
Attitude is contagious. In order to succeed it is important to surround yourself with those that have the right attitude. Just as positivity is a choice, you also have a choice of the company you keep.
Look for a Learning Experience in Every Situation
Life is full of both good and bad experiences many, as we have discussed, outside of our control. Yet these experiences form the story of our lives. Even the worst situations provide us with an opportunity to learn something new. Whether that be about ourselves or about the outside world.
Understanding what each situation has taught us enables us to take something positive away, no matter how bad the experience was for us.
